New Salem board sets driveway fee, aligns Fire Chief pay with Wendell. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a 4 percent cost-of-living adjustment for the shared Fire Chief to match Wendell's rate instead of New Salem's approved 3.5 percent, and voted unanimously to set the driveway permit fee at $50 following a public hearing. Chair Richard Taupier and members Susan Cloutier and Carl Seppala appointed Michael Gobielle and John Bonafini as Police Officers and Doug Turner to the Cemetery Commission for three years.
The board is seeking a community representative for the Mahar Regional Agreement Subcommittee after member Seppala cited a conflict of interest.
