New Salem Planning Board confirms zoning bylaw revision will begin public outreach in January. Recording Secretary Steven Blinder noted the hired firm will attend special hearings on bylaw amendments, and the working group will research waiting periods for rejected bylaws and whether certain amendments require two-thirds votes. The board also discussed a state clean energy permitting statute allowing consolidated review of energy projects, which automatically takes effect in October unless the Select Board adopts it first.
