Board seeks inspector action on deteriorating Wendell Road property

Board of Health · Meeting of March 10, 2026

NEW SALEM — Board of Health votes to request inspector action on deteriorating Wendell Road property. Chair Jenny Potee's motion, seconded by member Lynn Layton, passed unanimously, directing the Building Inspector to board the vacant structure at 210 Wendell Road, which Health Agent Matthew Fortier described as uninhabitable and a public nuisance. The property, located near the Elementary School, lacks utilities and remains unboarded despite Police warning signs.

Health Inspector Jason O'Brien reported that 22 West Street has been brought into compliance with state food service requirements and the New Salem General Store passed inspection.
