Board of Health continues 22 West Street hearing, authorizes Transfer Station security

NEW SALEM — The Board of Health continued a hearing on property conditions at 22 West Street and authorized security upgrades at the Transfer Station. Chair Jenny Potee agreed to contact Ron's Fuel regarding delays in heating repairs and chimney lining work caused by Community Action Partnership and Ron's Fuel backlog. The board authorized $1,000 to install cameras and signage after trash compactor tampering was discovered.
Member Patrick Temple will research camera and signage options. The board also voted to reopen demolition and metals containers at the Transfer Station, with instructions to haul them when full and not return them until March 14, 2026.
