Finance Committee approves 13 warrant articles and deficit spending

NEW SALEM — Finance Committee approves $101,000 in warrant articles from Free Cash. The committee voted unanimously to recommend 13 articles for a special town meeting on January 12, totaling approximately $101,000 from certified Free Cash of $1.2 million. Department of Public Works received the largest allocation, roughly $50,000 across multiple articles for vehicle repairs, road maintenance, and equipment; the town also approved $20,000 for legal expenses related to several lawsuits, $3,000 for technology improvements, and $1,000 to hire a Town Animal Inspector.
In separate action, the committee approved deficit spending for snow and ice costs already incurred this winter.
