Finance Committee · Meeting of April 21, 2026

New Salem Finance Committee reviews proposed override ahead of May 4 ballot. Chair Gabriele Voelker, Dara LaPlante, and Claire McGinnis of the Finance Committee held an informational hearing Tuesday with the Select Board and School Committee members. The committee reviewed a five-page memo on town finances, discussing debt exclusion, stabilization, and free cash.

Regular town meeting action is expected to trigger approximately a 2.5 percent tax increase, with the override's effect yet to be determined before October's tax calculation.
